The people in the Middle colony didn't just work, they also needed to relax and have fun!

In winter, in the Middle Colonies, kids had fun skating. In all the colonies, kids played with balls and bats and marbles and dolls. They played tag.

How did the kids help?

Kids had many chores to do in the new world. They often collected stones from the fields to create stone fences. They helped with the farm animals and harvest. They helped make clothes, and candles with their mothers.

Kids in the Middle colony often spent their time in church or in prayer. Services were long and sometimes tiring. Sometimes kids fell asleep during prayer and if they did then they would get poked with a long stick that had a brass knob attached to it.

Corn Cobs were often cut into pieces and used to make building blocks. Corn Husks were used to make dolls. Gourds were used hollowed out and used to make funny, loud, and weird noises. Kids also used pressed flowers to make pictures.
